The Grief Ministry of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Monee offers grief support through two support groups designed for people in different stages of grief, Early Mourning and Moving Forward.
Both groups follow the companioning model of grief support in which a facilitator moderates discussion between participants as they explore their experiences of loss, work to integrate the loss into their lives, and move toward reconciliation to the loss.
Moving Forward is an on-going group with no pre-registration. Moving Forward meets on Thursdays at 6 pm.
A new Early Mourning grief support group will be conducted 3 times each year:
1. March, April, May and June
2. July, August, September and October
3. November, December, January and February.
Contact the church for registration dates and meeting schedule. Membership is limited to twelve participants. To register, call St. Paul's UCC or Tom Thompson. The book Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Hope and Healing Your Heart by Alan D. Wolfet, Ph. D. will be provided to each participant on a loan basis. They may be purchased for $15 if desired. Early Mourning meets on Thursdays at 6:30 pm.
